The small print (kept short)

Privacy notice

Plain English on what we collect, why, and how to get your story taken down whenever you like.

Who we are

Our.me (our.me.uk) is a small, independent website celebrating UK couples. You can contact us about anything on this page using our contact form or at kingsib@gmail.com.

When you share a story

We collect what you type into the form:

  • Names or nicknames, UK region, how you met, years together and your story. If approved, these are published on the website.
  • An optional photo. If approved, it is published with your story. We re-save every photo as a new, resized image, which removes hidden metadata such as camera details and GPS location.
  • Your email address. This is never published. We only use it to contact you about your story (for example, to check a detail or confirm a removal request).
  • Your confirmations that both people consent to publication, that you have permission to share the photo, and that you are 18 or over.

Nothing is published until a person has reviewed it. We may decline stories, for example if they include surnames, contact details or other personal information. Photos from stories we decline are deleted straight away, and the story itself within 30 days.

Our legal basis for processing this information is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

When you contact us

Messages sent through the contact form are emailed to us and include your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply to you.

Spam protection

To stop spam, we briefly store a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address along with the time you submitted a form. This lets us limit how many submissions come from one place. These records are automatically deleted after about 24 hours and can't be used to identify you on their own.

The story and contact forms use a single, essential session cookie to protect against forged submissions. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Links to other websites

Links to other sites go through a short redirect on our own site (addresses starting /go/). When you click one we log the date, which link was clicked and the page you came from, so we know which links are useful. Some of these links may become affiliate links in future, which means we might earn a small commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. Other sites have their own privacy policies.

How long we keep things

  • Published stories: until you ask us to remove them, or we take the site down.
  • Declined stories: photos are deleted straight away and the story text within 30 days.
  • Contact emails: kept only as long as needed to deal with your message.

Removing or changing your story

Either person in a published story can ask us to change or remove it, at any time, for any reason. Just use the contact form, choose "Remove or change my story" and tell us the names on the story. If you can, use the same email address you submitted with, so we can match it up quickly. We aim to act on removal requests promptly.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Contact us and we'll help. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
